There is a handy pay and display car park at the rear of the building (£1.10 for 2 hours) with the hall entrance around the front (opposite the Oxfam shop). Your counsellor will come down to meet you at your agreed time and will show you up to the office. If you are a few minutes early, take a seat on the bench just outside and we will be along shortly.
The Initial Meeting
Whether it’s your first time in Therapy or if you have experienced it before, we want you to feel relaxed and comfortable. When you come in, we will offer you a tea or coffee and invite you to take a seat in whichever comfy seat you fancy.
This initial session will last about 30min and is free of charge. It’s important to remember this isn’t the beginning of therapy, more of a meet and greet, giving you the chance to come in, have a chat and decide if you would like to work together.
Expectations
After some introductions, it can be useful to know a little about why you have come in. We would also like to know some of your expectations of counselling and what you would like to achieve during our time together.

What would you like to know? To help you feel at ease, we welcome any and all questions about us and the counselling process. Therapy is a two-way relationship, and we want you to feel comfortable saying whatever is on your mind – starting here!
The Contract
If you are happy to work together, then the final step is reading through and signing our Therapeutic Contract. This is an agreement between you and your counsellor about how therapy will work and includes information on confidentiality, cancellations, charges, contact information and more. This can be done on paper, or securely online here.
